IOC/OTGA/OIH course: Implementing the Ocean Data and Information System (ODIS) architecture.

The International Oceanographic Data Exchange (IODE) of IOC-UNESCO – together with regional partners across the globe – has developed an inclusive Ocean Data and Information System (ODIS) to allow digital stakeholders to reliably share and discover key ocean data. In the month of April 2023, the OIH team conducted four online training courses on implementing the ODIS architecture. Those training course had the same content but were given in four different languages (Portuguese, French, English, Spanish) in order to reach the three pilot regions of the OIH project ( Africa region, Latin America and the Caribbean region, Pacific small island developing states region). In total, 81 people enrolled into one of the courses.

At the end of the course, learners are able to understand the Ocean Data and Information System and know how to incorporate ODIS schema.org patterns into existing online databases and websites in order to share their metadata with the world.

Due to the high interest in this course, these four courses are now available as  self- paced courses (until December 2024) on the OceanTeacher Global Academy e-Learning platform
